About Kuimarisha Kaunti Project

The project is designed to address the challenges of access to services by enhancing the voice of the citizens through creation of awareness on their rights and building their capacity to participate effectively on county governance processes to improve public service delivery through clear mechanisms of their voice.

The project’s overall goal is Improved and Equitable Public Access to County Services and Sustained Human Development in Homa Bay County by increasing the knowledge of citizens of on good governance towards poverty reduction, protection of rights and sustainable human development. This will result in increased demand for accountability and improved county service and enhanced citizen engagement in Homa Bay County governance processes.

The above outcomes will be achieved by the following activities:

  • 58,500 citizens indirectly acquiring basic knowledge on ESCRs, governance, national nalue & nationhood, devolution and public participation.
  • Formation of 2 Social Accountability Cells to monitor services and/or performance delivered by Homa Bay County.
  • Improving the capacity of project implementation team to effectively deliver governance of the project mapping of non-state actor organizations.
  • Establishment of 1 Civil Society Network established in Homa Bay County.
  • Recruitment and training of 17 budget champions on planning and budgetary process.

Achievements

The Ndovu Award presented to IDF during the 2023 Devolution Conference at the Eldoret Sports Club, Uasin Gishu County for exemplary work in educating and mobilizing citizens to participate in governance and service delivery.

IDF are the current Ndovu Award winner for 2023. The award, presented once every 10 years, was awarded to IDF due to our outstanding work in educating and mobilizing citizens to participate in various governance and service delivery sectors in Homa Bay County. We have employed creative and effective ways of linking citizens with their county government, hence ensuring productive collaboration in pursuit of shared development priorities.

Meeting with youth representatives from all the wards in Homa Bay County to understand their take on the county governance process, climate change mitigation and adaptation process.
Meeting with County Government Departments on mainstreaming of PWD issues in all departments and ensure that PWDs have access to AGPO as stipulated in the Public Finance Act
Meeting with stakeholders to develop youth internship policy for Homa Bay County
Training partners, community representatives and government department representatives on climate change governance. This training will maintain an active mitigation and adaptation strategy by improving funding to climate change adaptation programs and mainstreaming climate change into all county government departments.
